大学卒業後、バックパックで世界各国を旅しながらヨーロッパでモデルとして活動。
2005年、戦後の沖縄を描いた映画『ハブと拳骨』で俳優デビュー。三線弾きの主人公を演じ、第20回東京国際映画祭コンペティション部門にノミネートされました。
2008年、ニューヨークで出会ったリアリズム演劇に感銘を受け、本格的に芝居を学ぶため渡米。
その後、日本を拠点に、国内外の映画・ドラマへ幅広く出演を続けています。
2021年には主演・プロデュースを務めた映画『義足のボクサー』が釜山国際映画祭でキム・ジソク賞を受賞。
翌2022年、同映画祭でAsia Star Awardを受賞。
そして2025年のハワイ国際映画祭では、主演アメリカ映画『Lone Samurai』、日本映画『宝島』『木の上の軍隊』の3作品で注目を集めました。
Shogen – Profile
After graduating from university, Shogen traveled the world as a backpacker while working as a model in Europe.
He made his acting debut in 2005 with The Snake and the Fist (Habu to Kenkotsu), a film depicting postwar Okinawa, where he played a sanshin player in the leading role. The film was nominated for the Competition Section of the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival.
In 2008, inspired by the realism acting he encountered in New York, he decided to pursue acting seriously and moved to the U.S. for training.
Since then, he has been based in Japan, appearing in numerous Japanese and international films and television series.
In 2021, the film The One-Legged Boxer, which he both starred in and produced, won the Kim Jiseok Award at the Busan International Film Festival.
He received the Asia Star Award at the same festival in 2022.
In 2025, at the Hawaii International Film Festival, Shogen drew major attention with three films — the U.S. feature Lone Samurai (lead role), and the Japanese films Takarajima (Hero’s Island) and Army on the Tree.

ハワイ国際映画祭（HIFF）では、ハワイ沖縄連合会（HUOA）のサポートのもと、沖縄をテーマにした作品が数多く上映されました。
そして今年、その舞台に3作品で登場したのが俳優・尚玄（Shogen）さん✨
出演作は、日本映画『宝島』『木の上の軍隊』、そして主演を務めたアメリカ映画『Lone Samurai』。
20年ぶりのハワイ訪問となった尚玄さんは、レッドカーペットに颯爽と登場し、会場を魅了しました✨
🌺 2025 marks the 125th anniversary of Okinawan immigration to Hawaii!
At this year’s Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF), with the support of the Hawaii United Okinawa Association (HUOA), a number of films highlighting Okinawan stories were showcased.
Among the featured guests was actor Shogen, who appeared in three films — the Japanese productions “Takarajima (Hero’s Island)” and “Army on the Tree”, and the U.S. film “Lone Samurai,” in which he stars as the lead.
It was Shogen’s first visit to Hawaii in 20 years, and he graced the red carpet with elegance and charisma, captivating the audience.
